HP LaserJet 1020/1022 and Spoolsv.exe Error

Several people I know have this model printer and it has a common problem where it causes a “Spoolsv.exe” error if the printed margins are too close to the edge of the page. This will freeze up the computer and look like a possible virus/malware infection but it isn’t. I have been able to reproduce this problem on a consistent basis (even after installing the latest drivers from HP’s website) by printing documents with small margins from web pages, Word documents, and PDFs.

First resolve the error by restarting the computer with the printer powered off (very important!) and then cancel the print job from within Printers and Faxes. Now turn the printer back on and open the document that caused the problem. Change the page margins so that they are larger than .25” and try printing the document again.

You may also just restart the Print Spooler service after turning off the printer if you are computer savvy and don’t feel like rebooting.

Follow these steps if the document is a PDF and you are using Adobe Reader:

  1. Open the document in Adobe Reader
  2. Select File > Print… > Advanced
  3. Check the box that says “Print As Image
  4. Click OK
  5. Then click OK to print

Other people have found success by turning off Data Execution Prevention for the Spooler SubSystem App, Windows Explorer, and HP’s status application.

  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Open System properties (shortcut: Windows key + Pause/Break key).
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. Under Performance select Settings.
  5. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.
  6. Select Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.
  7. Add Spooler SubSystem App, Windows Explorer, and HP LJ status application located here – C:\Windows\system32\ZSHP1020.exe.

Third Tithe

If you have been in a church for any amount of time then you have probably heard about tithing. A tithe is defined as a tenth or 10% of our increase. You have also probably heard that there is a tithe that we give to God and a second tithe that we save for the Feasts each year. Then, every once in a while there is mention of a third tithe! A whole year where we save up 30% of our increase for 3 different purposes!

I heard about it when I was younger but didn’t bother doing anything about it because nobody really explained what it was, who it was for, when we should keep it, or why we should do it. My wife and I are currently in our third tithe year and we have been extremely blessed. I don’t have time to go in depth for each of these but my wife got a surprise promotion at her job which happened to cover the expenses for me to go back to school. We were able to buy a house when we thought it would take us several years to save up a small down payment and didn’t even know if the deal would go through until the very last minute. And there are many more!

Let’s go over who the third tithe is for, when it is to be kept, and why we should keep it today.

Who is the third tithe for?

Deuteronomy 14:27-29 – Notice each person mentioned here does not have a way of getting a physical inheritance or provider. God is their provider and inheritance and He is working through us at a physical level to mold and shape our minds to be like His.

Deut. 18:1-2 – Priests and Levites: The Lord is their inheritance.

Prov. 23:10-11 – Orphans: The Lord is their Redeemer.

Spiritual significance:

· Poor: We are all poor in spirit and life until Christ gives us life (John 10:10)

· Orphans: We are all fatherless until we recognize that God is our Father (Gal. 4:6-7)

· Widow: We are all widows until we are married to our husband, Christ (Isa. 54:4-6)

When is the third tithe year observed?

How can we know when the third and sixth years are when we don’t have a first year? When should we start the year? Some people will say that the year can start from when you were baptized, or the Passover or Feast of Tabernacles closest to your baptism date since those were the harvest times. The year someone was baptized is usually the starting year for most people because that’s when they initially learned about the third tithe and it’s easier to remember. Let’s see what other information we can find in the Bible:

Leviticus 25 – The Israelites were told to farm their land for 6 years and then let the land rest on the seventh year. This cycle was to be completed seven times which would be 49 years. The 50th year, or the year of Jubilee, is also a year of rest for the land and no farming is to be done.

Leviticus 25:8-10 – We find here that the land Sabbaths and the year of Jubilee revolve around the Day of Atonement. This would give us the Day of Atonement as being the beginning and end of our third tithe year every third and sixth year of a seven year cycle. So it seems acceptable for us to be able to start this tithe counting from Atonement the year we were baptized.

What a beautiful concept and opportunity God has given us! This adds a whole new facet to the Day of Atonement about being released from sin, redeemed by our Creator, and gaining an inheritance. It isn’t a coincidence that Atonement precedes the Feast of Tabernacles which pictures the millennium and coming Kingdom of God.

Why should we observe it today?

God says to do it, and it is something that we can do to help people in need. As Christians this is something we should be striving to do on a regular basis. We are told in the scriptures to not forget the widows and orphans and to not harden our hearts when dealing with the poor. This tithe is for the people “within our gates” which could also mean our sphere of influence (people we know). This tithe can be given to a widow or orphan who is a relative, friend or stranger. Or since the church has stated that the levitical work is being done by the ministers today, the money could be given to a minister of Christ who is in need. Otherwise it is best to send the tithe to the headquarters of your church so that it can be distributed to people who are in need.

God blesses us for tithing.

Deuteronomy 26:12-19 – At the end of the third tithe year we can come before God and ask for a blessing. It is our reward for good behavior, for doing what God has asked us to do. What would you ask for? (also ref. Malachi 3:8-12)

Conclusion:

My wife and I have been able to see God’s hand in our lives and that is essentially one of the main reasons for tithing. God doesn’t need it, but we need God and this is one of His ways of teaching us to rely on Him. We covered who the third tithe is for (Levite, stranger, orphan, widow), that we can keep it from the year we are baptized closest to the Day of Atonement, and that we learn valuable lessons and build faith by observing it today.

The third tithe embodies many subjects: tithing, land Sabbaths, year of Jubilee, Atonement, faith, blessings, widows, orphans, Levites, inheritance, and more. I hope that this brief overview of the third tithe intrigues you enough to study and ask questions about these subjects and to gain a greater understanding about the awesome future God has in store for those who believe and trust in Him.

Discussion Questions:

1. Does every third year just mean to tithe every 3 years?

2. Should we save up the third tithe in the years preceding it so that the tithe is spread out over 3 years?

3. Does anyone have any examples of how God has intervened in their lives during their third tithe year?

4. What if you don’t have enough money to cover your expenses and will go into debt if you tithe?

5. Did the Levites pay third tithe? Should the ministers today pay third tithe?

6. Since the Bible doesn’t call this the “third” tithe, what factors distinguish this tithe from the other 2 tithes?

7. Should you still pay the third tithe if you are already paying for a similar service through the government by your taxes? What if your taxes are less than 10% for this service?

Why Should We Observe Pentecost?

What is Pentecost?

Pentecost means to count 50. Leviticus 23:15-16 tells us to count 50 days from the day after the Sabbath during Unleavened Bread when the wave sheaf offering was made. This requires some biblical understanding about the Sabbath, Feast of Unleavened Bread, and the wave sheaf offering which will be discussed in future articles. The Sabbath is a day of rest and is always on the seventh day of the week (Lev. 23:3). The seventh day of the week by today’s calendar system is Saturday. Therefore the day after the Sabbath (Saturday) will be Sunday, and when you count 50 days from Sunday you will always land on a Sunday. This particular day is also a day of rest where no work is to be done on it (Lev. 23:21).

Pentecost is also called the Feast of First Fruits and Feast of Weeks. It is called the former because we are told to offer the first fruits of our harvest before God, which is part of the wave sheaf offering. It is known as the latter because we are to count 7 weeks from the wave sheaf offering.

Why 50 days? Did God pick the number at random?

Only God knows exactly why this number was chosen, but we can gain a pretty good understanding of why we count 50 days from looking at the scriptures. We know that in Genesis God created the seven day week, and thereby seven being the number of completion or perfection which is repeated every week. Fifty days is a product of 7 days multiplied by 7 weeks plus 1 day. Based on this understanding we can see that something has been completed in the 49 days and then something new has started on the 50th day.

What are Land Sabbaths?

Let’s look at the example God gave us regarding the land Sabbaths (Lev. 25:8-55). The Israelites were told to farm their land for 6 years and then let the land rest on the seventh year. This cycle was to be completed seven times which would be 49 years. The 50th year, or the year of Jubilee, is also a year of rest for the land and no farming is to be done. It’s called the year of Jubilee because all debts are forgiven and people return to their property they sold during the past 49 years. This makes the people very happy! The same principal has been applied where it has been a complete cycle of 49 and then the 50th instance is a time for rejoicing (Deut. 16:9-12).

Joshua and the Israelites fulfilled Leviticus 23:10.

The Israelites were told in Leviticus 23:10 to offer the wave sheaf offering when they entered the promised land. We see that in Joshua 5:10-12 the Israelites did not have to work for the produce of the land and were able to eat the first fruits of the land on the same day the wave sheaf was to be offered. This was possible because the land was a gift from God.

Did Jesus observe Pentecost?

Not only did Jesus observe Pentecost while He was flesh and blood, but He also commanded His disciples to observe it even after His resurrection! The disciples were told to stay in Jerusalem until Pentecost to receive the “Promise of the Father” (Acts 1:4) which is to be “baptized with the Holy Spirit…” (Acts 1:5).

We read in Acts 2:1-4 that a rushing wind swept through the building, tongues of fire sat on each of their heads, they were filled with the Holy Spirit, and were able to speak in tongues. Some people have misunderstood speaking in tongues to just spouting out a bunch of gibberish, but we can clearly see that the disciples were speaking coherently in other languages (Acts 2:5-11).

This baptism on Pentecost pictured something new that had never been done before. It is the beginning of the time where the Holy Spirit will be given to those who believe Jesus died for our sins and was resurrected. These disciples in Acts are the “first fruits” of this new era of going out and preaching the Gospel of the coming Kingdom of God to the whole world!

Peter immediately preached a sermon to those around the disciples to repent of their sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38). The Holy Spirit gave Peter and the other disciples a boldness for preaching the Gospel because only 50 days earlier Peter denied knowing Christ three times (Matt. 26:75).

How do we observe Pentecost today?

We do not offer sacrifices to God anymore since Christ is our living sacrifice. However we are to observe the day as a holy convocation, a day of rest, and to give an offering to God. The disciples gathered together in one accord, in one place as we read in Acts 2. Our observance should be the same by gathering together with fellow brethren to observe this very special day.

Are you currently in a church that observes Pentecost? Pentecost is very important to Jesus Christ as well as the founding of the early Church. This day should be important to all Christians as it is one of the seven Holy Days that God commands us to keep each and every year (Lev. 23:21, Ex. 34:22, Ex. 23:16).

Quick summary of Pentecost:
- It is always observed on a Sunday
- It is a day of rest from our regular work
- Observed 50 days from the wave sheaf offering
- An offering is made to God
- It is a Feast
- Time of rejoicing
- A release from all debts
- Holy Spirt given to the Church
- Pictures repentance and baptism

Top 3 Effective Malware/Spyware/Virus Removers

Chances are that one of these three programs will be able to remove those pesky infectious programs from your system.

1. Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org)

This has a standard GUI install and downloads the latest update before the program starts running. Usually by running the default quick scan you can remove the latest malware in about 5-10 minutes.

2. ComboFix (http://www.combofix.org)

ComboFix has a regular .exe file but it installs from a command prompt window. It doesn’t like to be run along with any other antivirus program and will tell you if you have one running. After complaining a couple times it runs anyway. One of the best features of this software besides removing viruses/malware is that it installs the Windows Recovery Console for you. For that reason alone you should download and run this program at least once.

3. McAfee Avert Stinger (http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger)

I have not used this one personally but others have recommended it to me. The program doesn’t provide any extra bells and whistles like real-time scanning or scheduled scanning. It will just remove specific viruses for you.

These programs should allow you to get your computer back up and running within a few minutes. The more people who know this information the better off everyone else will be.

If you are constantly getting viruses then you will need to reevaluate the websites you visit as well as making sure your operating system is up to date.

Abigail – A Peacemaker

Abigail was the wife of Nabal who was of the house of Caleb (I Samuel 25:2). Abigail was an intelligent and beautiful woman and Nabal was very wealthy but cruel and evil in his dealings with others (I Samuel 25:3). David had just moved down into the Desert of Maon after Samuel’s death because he was still running from King Saul (I Samuel 25:1).

Previously, David and his men watched over Nabal’s shepherds and possessions while they were in the wilderness and protected them without receiving any payment. After arriving in Maon, David sent some messengers to Nabal asking if he would give them some food and drink but Nabal answered harshly and sent the messengers away. After hearing Nabal’s response David took up his sword and 400 men to kill every last man in Nabal’s household before morning (1 Samuel 25:7-12, 22).

One of Nabal’s servants informed Abigail about how Nabal reviled David’s messengers. While David and his army were on their way Abigail interceded on Nabal’s behalf by bringing David the food and drink he asked for. She also gave a persuasive and prophetic speech reminding David that the Lord fights our battles and that David should not have this blood on his hands or his conscience and regret it later in life as king. David thanked Abigail and returned to his camp in the wilderness (1 Samuel 25:18-35).

That evening Nabal was drunk from feasting so Abigail waited until the morning to tell him what happened with David. Nabal’s heart failed him after hearing what Abigail said and he died ten days later. David heard of Nabal’s death and then he asked Abigail to be his wife. Abigail accepted the proposal and became one of David’s wives which also meant that she became a queen in David’s kingdom (1 Samuel 25:36-42). Abigail bore David his second son Chileab (2 Samuel 3:3; Called Daniel in 1 Chronicles 3:1).

Abigail shows us that we must always strive to do the right thing even if the circumstances prove difficult or life threatening. Her actions show that she had great courage, wisdom, and diplomacy to be able to appease David and win his favor. God fights the battles of the righteous and blesses those who are peacemakers “for they shall be called sons of God” (Matthew 5:9).
